Bob Forsyth

Bob Forsyth /

Bob has worked in the security industry for over fifteen years; gaining experience from fundamental operational roles, he has become a key figure amongst his peers. A proven expert in business growth and innovation, Bob is also an excellent relationship builder; personally managing top accounts within MITIE’s security business.

Bob joined MITIE in 2004 as Managing Director for MITIE Southwest which was a MITIE start up business and went on to become MD of the South region for MITIE after the merger with Initial. In 2007, Bob became Managing Director of Total Security Management at MITIE. During which time he set up a stand alone Response business and managed the sales growth of a fully integrated service provision. In December 2009 he was announced as MD designate for the entire Security Business.

Recent Minister for Security, Counter-terrorism, Crime and Policing

In his many senior government roles working with UK Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, the Right Hon. Tony McNulty MP served as Borders and Immigration Minister (2005 to 06); and then attended Cabinet as Minister for London and Employment until June 2009. Mr McNulty was elected Member of Parliament for Harrow East in 1997 and became a Privy Councillor in 2007.

In April 2009, Sir Hugh was elected as President of the Association of Chief Police Officers. This appointment is indicative of the high esteem in which Sir Hugh is held, and the confidence his fellow Chief Officers have in his ability to steer policing at a national level in the 21st century. Sir Hugh takes up his new role on 1 September 2009.

In April 2008 Sir Hugh Orde received the annual Leadership Award from the Police Executive Research Forum. This award recognised his extraordinary achievements in managing the massive change which took place around Policing in Northern Ireland since the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. Each year the Leadership Award is granted to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to law enforcement and focuses on those who portray the highest leadership standards at a national level. This is the first time it has been presented to someone from the United Kingdom.

He is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute. He also holds a Degree in Public Administration and an Hon. Doctorate in Civil Law from the University of Kent.

Colin Stanbridge became Chief Executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in November 2002. He is responsible to the Board for all aspects of the Chamber's work.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Colin was Managing Director of Carlton Broadcasting, the London weekday ITV Company from 1996, having joined Carlton as Controller of Regional Affairs in 1993. He became Controller of Public Affairs for Carlton UK Television in 1994.

Colin was at the BBC for nearly twenty years after joining as a News Trainee straight from York University. He has worked in local radio, network news, current affairs and regional television.


Justin Crump Justin Crump /

Justin Crump has headed up Stirling Assynt’s Terrorism and Country Risk division since the end of 2008. He began his career as a front-office corporate financier in a major US investment bank but left after several years, having been called up to serve as a full time officer with the British Army. He participated in operations in the Former Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan before eventually moving back to the private sector, consulting for a Foreign Office department. He remains an active reservist, serving in the Yeomanry. Justin is intimately familiar with all the areas covered by the Assynt team, but particularly focuses on al-Qaeda’s tactics and strategy.

James Brandon is a senior research fellow at the Quilliam Foundation, a counter-extremism thinktank in London. He is a former journalist who has reported on Islamic issues in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for a wide variety of print and broadcast media. He holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London and has worked for a wide variety of thinktanks in the US and the UK.

CFO Paul Hayden

Chief Fire Officer Paul Hayden, MA, MSc, MIFireE /
Hereford and Worcestershire Fire Service

Paul has an MSc in Fire Command and Management from the University of Central Lancashire, an MA in Management from Coventry University, and is a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers.

Since 18th April 2005, Paul has been the Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

Paul has a number of Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) national responsibilities including Director of the National RPE project. He is also CFOA lead on flooding and water rescue and represents the Service nationally on the Environment Agency Strategic Partner Group. He is an advisor to the Local Government Association on water matters, and has represented the UK on EU flood management projects and exercises. Paul has worked on flood response and strategic incident command issues with emergency management colleagues in the EU and with FRS, FEMA and DHS colleagues in the US, and is an advisor to a number of environmental research projects currently being undertaken by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

During the summer 2007 floods, Paul utilised this experience to establish the CFOA National Flood Support Team, providing coordination of all specialist water rescue resources across the UK. His contribution to this event has been recognised with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IEAM) Award in 2007 and the Higgins and Langley Swift Water Rescue Programme Development Award in 2008.


Harry Dahul Harry Dhaul /

Mr. Harry Dhaul, an Economics graduate from Mumbai University, is the Founder and Director General of Security Watch India (SWI) and The Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI). He has over 25 years of experience in the power and infrastructure sectors. He has been a consultant/advisor to the Ministry of Power, Planning Commission and other regulatory bodies and has participated in several ministerial delegations for attracting investment in the Indian power sector from 1992 onwards. He has also been on the Planning Commission consultative committee for the 8th and 9th Five year plan of the Central Electricity Authority. The rising security threats to the Indian Industry (Power, Nuclear, Oil & Gas) and to public infrastructure, led Mr. Dhaul to form Security Watch India, an initiative that would provide a platform for interaction among experts, security agencies, regulators and policymakers at a global level, in order to encourage the incorporation and adoption of the most effective methods to enable secure sustainable development and growth in private and public projects across the energy and other critical infrastructure sectors. .


Tony Shepherd

Tony qualified as a Chartered Director at the Institute of Directors, London, where he is now a Fellow and has worked at board level within the not for profit and commercial sectors, as well as the NHS, for over 20 years. Having qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in Chester in 1974 he held a number of senior clinical and managerial appointments in London teaching hospitals before becoming a clinical nurse specialist at The Royal London Hospital and nurse tutor at St Thomas's Hospital, London. With the introduction of general management into the NHS in the 1980s he became one of the first nurses to become a hospital general manager, a post that he held until 1988 when he became a hospital director in the not for profit sector. Since then he has been chief executive of a number of regional and national organisations including New Bridge, a national charity with a presence in 119 UK prisons. Tony has been the National Chair of the Royal College of Nursing Independent Sector Managers Forum and an invited member of the Department of Health's Independent Sector Forum. He has an MBA and is the first Chief Executive of the Safer London Foundation and was appointed in February 2005.

John is a Special Advisor to Global Aware International and Non Executive Director of Interserve Security. From 1998 until October 2006 he was the Group Loss Prevention and Security Director for Tesco plc. He reported directly to the CEO, Sir Terry Leahy and was responsible for the world-wide protection of company assets, Crisis Management and Business Continuity. Prior to joining Tesco he served with the Metropolitan Police. He joined in 1963, and retired in 1998 with the rank of Deputy Assistant Commissioner.

In 1977 Her Majesty the Queen honoured him for his part in the capture of IRA terrorists and again in 1996 for distinguished police service. In February 2007 he was commissioned Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London and is the Representative DL to the London Borough of Harrow. He is President of the Harrow Branch of The Royal British Legion. He is a graduate of the English Police Staff College, the British Cabinet Office Top Management Programme, and was a Fellow Commoner researching at Wolfsen College, Cambridge. He is a Fellow of The Security Institute.

In 1999 John co-founded what is now the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals. He was the Company’s first volunteer clerk, and Master from June 2006 until June 2007. He has chaired the Fund Raising and the F&G Committee and is currently the deputy chairman of the Trustees. He launched the security charity ‘Hear4u’ in 2006. He is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman.

Jon was taken on by the Daily Mirror ten years ago as a graduate trainee and has enjoyed a varied career as a tabloid newspaper journalist.
He has been a general news reporter, with assignments including undercover investigations of the far right, and a duty news editor, managing coverage of events such as the 2004 Tsunami and the July 7 bombings.
Jon spent 18 months as showbiz editor in charge of the Mirror’s celebrity, television, music, film and Hollywood coverage and supervised the award-winning 3am girls column.
In 2006, he became a foreign correspondent and has reported from Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Israel.
For the last three years, Jon has covered crime, specialising in forensics, terrorism and the policing of rape.

Based in Philadelphia, USA, Nicole coaches business and public sector desision-makers to prepare for crisis management and staff trauma scenarios. Ms. Lipkin co-authored “Y in the Workplace: Managing the “Me First” Generation”, released by Career Press in July 2009, and is a regular contributor to the US print and broadcast media community.

Keith Weston is a Senior Research Fellow in Counter Terrorism in the Security Studies Institute of the Department of Applied Science, Security and Resilience, at Cranfield University, located within the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. He currently lectures on several Post Graduate Degree courses on the subjects of policing, counter terrorism, crisis management, security and the forensic management of crime scenes. In 2005, after 32 years service, he retired from the Metropolitan Police Service. He was a career counter-terrorist officer and served in both Special Branch and the Anti-Terrorist Branch. His last post was head of the Police International Counter Terrorism Unit. He is a regular speaker at UK and international conferences and is on the International Board of Advisors at New York University Law School, Centre on Law and Security. He is a founder member of the Institute for Civil Protection and Emergency Management. In 1992 he was awarded a Master of Arts Degree by Exeter University. In 2003 he was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal.
