FloodFighters 2010
Helping Business Communities to Survive Floods

Industry groups, regulators, emergency planners and other interested parties will be brought together by City Security and Resilience Networks (CSARN) to offer their views on how best to protect business, staff and critical infrastructure from severe weather and flooding scenarios.

Sir Michael Pitt's 2007 review into the UK floods concluded that the Government should “establish a systematic, coordinated, cross-sector campaign to reduce the disruption caused by natural events to critical infrastructure and essential services”. An estimated £3bn of damage was caused during the 2007 floods which generated the largest peacetime rescue operation in the UK, according to Fire and Rescue Services. .
