The Centre for Disaster Management Coventry University

Understanding the natural environment has been described as the most serious and difficult challenge facing humankind in the 21st Century.

At the same time, combating disease, reducing social and economic inequalities, regenerating our cities and promoting good health and prosperity command our attention whilst disasters and emergencies occur all too frequently across the world and need to be managed effectively.

The Department of Geography, Environment and Disaster Management has maintained a reputation for research quality of national excellence in every research assessment over 15 years, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England has officially rated teaching in the Department as "excellent". To achieve this level of success requires professional teamwork and friendly cooperation between staff, students and our partners in government, industry and voluntary organisations.
