CSARN

In 2018, the U.K. Government elevated ‘diseases and natural hazards affecting the UK’ to be one of six principal challenges likely to drive national security priorities over the coming decade.

Covid-19 is the first significant test and we are all still in the midst of identifying the lessons to inform our future preparations.

Scientists may say that we were not fully prepared for this type of Covid virus. But the question is, what do we know now about bio-security and how can we protect our people, economy and infrastructure for the next biological event? It’s not just a matter of leadership. We need to start thinking about the future arrangements that we have to put in place and the things we need to do differently in order to position ourselves for a fast response, effective management and sustainable recovery.

This CSARN briefing, the third in our successful pandemic series will focus on the future and lead the discussion on what we could be faced with next and what we all need to put in place.
