Major events present a significant target for terrorists, criminals and protestors. Stadiums, auditoriums and similar venues face numerous challenges but the opportunity for those with hostile intent has extended in recent years. The growth of privately owned public spaces which host outdoor entertainments and the trend to stage events in non traditional settings have all increased the demands on those charged with striking a balance between safety and enjoyment. The wider business sector potentially suffers collateral damage when this takes place and therefore it becomes increasingly important that resilience arrangements to recover from these events are embedded and practiced.
How do we plan and prepare? What risks and factors do we need to consider? How do we mitigate threats and what do we really understand about crowd dynamics? These are other key issues will be discussed in this essential CSARN briefing.
