World affairs frequently have implications for resilience and business continuity. We cannot ignore the fact that our communities and business sectors are vulnerable to geopolitical tectonic shifts that play out thousands of miles away. There are many types of major events, but the Salisbury chemical attack this year is a good example of how businesses should be aware of the collateral effect on them and their ability to survive the government level response. It is appropriate to imagine the same attack happening in Manchester, Birmingham or London (Litvinenko) and plan for what our respective responses should be. What challenges does this type of scenario present? How can we prepare so we are able to absorb the impact of business disruption whilst responding effectively? How do we protect our colleagues in extremis? This CSARN briefing will reflect other possibilities of major disruption and discuss solutions; it is therefore a critical session to attend.
